Rainbows Facilitator Training:

Rainbows Facilitators are vital to the success of the Rainbows programme, providing essential support to children and young people during a crucial time in their lives. By sitting alongside participants and guiding them through thoughtfully crafted materials and resources over the nine-week duration of peer group support, these dedicated individuals make a significant impact on the well-being of the youth they serve. Your interest in becoming a Rainbows Facilitator is warmly welcomed, and we appreciate your commitment to this important role.

Rainbows Ireland conducts a series of engaging four-day Facilitator Training sessions via Zoom throughout the year. To embark on your journey as a Rainbows Facilitator, you must first be affiliated with a registered Rainbows Centre. After securing this affiliation, you will be ready to book your spot in our comprehensive four-day Facilitator Training, where you will gain the skills and knowledge needed to help make a difference in the lives of young people.

During the Rainbows Ireland four-day Facilitator Training, participants will engage with topics related to parental separation and bereavement, including relevant theories and the impact on children and young people. As these subjects may be sensitive, we encourage all participants to consider their own personal circumstances before registering, particularly if experiences of loss or family change are recent. Throughout the training, participants are asked to prioritise their wellbeing, and to alert the Trainer if they need to step out or take a short break at any time.

Important Commitment Information – Rainbows Facilitator Training

Thank you for your interest in completing the 4‑day Rainbows Facilitator Training. This training is a full programme, and attendance at all four days in full is essential.

To be registered as a Rainbows Facilitator and added to the Rainbows Database, you must complete the entire 4‑day training. Unfortunately, missing half days or full days means you cannot be registered as a Facilitator.

We ask all participants to designate and protect the training days in advance. We understand that unforeseen emergencies can arise during the training period, and we always take these into consideration where possible. However, due to capacity constraints, we are not able to facilitate switching individual days in and out of other training blocks.

Responsibility for completing the full four days rests with the trainee. We recognise this is a significant time commitment, but it is a once‑off requirement. Once trained, ongoing commitment is much lighter — by completing refresher training on time every two years, you will not need to undertake this level of training again.
