Rainbows Ireland Workforce Development
Supporting Adults to Support Children Through Grief and Loss

Supporting adults to support children through grief, loss and family change
For almost 40 years, Rainbows Ireland has supported children and young people through bereavement and parental separation, and we’ve learned what makes support truly effective: confident, informed adults in everyday settings. Our Workforce Development Programme translates this experience into practical, evidence-informed training and resources, so professionals and volunteers can respond with compassion, clarity and confidence—early, locally, and in ways that strengthen children’s emotional wellbeing.

Today, we bring that expertise into our Workforce Development Programme, designed specifically for those working directly with children and young people.

Who Is This Training For?

Rainbows Ireland delivers workforce development in children’s grief, loss and family change. We specialise in supporting teachers and professionals across social care, youth work and early years to respond confidently to grief and loss in real-world settings—classrooms, residential care, early learning environments and youth services. Our training builds practitioner capacity through prevention and early‑intervention practice learning.

Rainbows is Ireland’s nationally structured Level 2 peer-support intervention for children and young people experiencing bereavement, separation and significant loss, delivered within communities as part of prevention and early intervention mental health supports, “Rainbows strengthens local early intervention capability through practitioner development, facilitation training and implementation support
